A leading company in plant and machinery manufacturing is looking for a Project Manager Sales. The role includes managing customer relations, overseeing project negotiations, and leading the Core Sales Team. Ideal candidates should hold a Mechanical Engineering degree and have 3-4 years of experience in Technical Sales. Proficiency in English is essential, and familiarity with project management tools is a plus.

SMS group S.p.A. is an Italian company which can count more than 500 employees in three different locations of Tarcento (Udine), San Donato Milanese (Milan) and Genoa. With its wide technical expertise, it is specialized in the production of innovative and turn-key plants, such as hot and cold rolling mills for flat products, process lines, reheating furnaces and heat treatment lines, rolling mills for long products, meltshops and continuous casting machines.

We are looking for the position of

Project Manager Sales SIE HANDELN

  • Representing the SMS group towards the customer and the project within the internal relationship;
  • Holding regular project discussions / negotiations with customers and consortium members and documenting the meeting results;
  • Holding regular core team meetings and documenting the meeting results;
  • Authorized for the overall sales project in the role of an “entrepreneur inside the company”;
  • Understands the baseline of the project in terms of the goals, substantive requirements, and Bid Budget;
  • Defines the project strategy (Winning Strategy) in close cooperation with the Core Sales Team and the Project Owner Sales;
  • Management of the Core Sales Team;
  • Right of allocation of the project budget (Bid Budget) approved until the next stage;
  • Target costing where required according to the project costing / result situation (total / unit costs) for the overall project;
  • Negotiation authority as the official point of contact with the customer and contract partners for all matters (technical & commercial), handling communication in close cooperation with the Commercial Manager Sales and the participating Technical Manager Sales until the contract is signed;
  • May convene all meetings and discussions as necessary to the project involving the Core Sales Team or with contract partners, such as additional risk meetings;
  • Travel rules and approvals within the framework of the applicable travel guidelines;
  • May request all project-related data and information;
  • Granted project-related power of attorney in writing for negotiating contracts (legally binding signing only by representative of the legal entity who takes the order).

SIE WISSEN

  • Graduate or Bachelor / Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar;
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in Technical Sales for complex plant manufacturing companies;
  • Experience in analyzing complex requests from customers and preparing relevant Technical Offers;
  • Commercial skills to identify competitive solutions, manufacturing strategies, etc.;
  • Good knowledge of Mechanical Technical drawings is a must, and basic knowledge of Media systems, Electric and Automation packages is also required;
  • Coordination skills are necessary to manage the Proposal project team;
  • Availability to undertake travel worldwide when required by the role;
  • Fluent in English is essential (German knowledge is a plus);
  • Good knowledge of Office package (including Project) and basic knowledge of SAP are essential;
  • Drawing tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo, etc.) are not required but represent a plus.
