SMS group S.p.A. is part of the German SMS Group, a global leader in plant and machinery manufacturing for the steelmaking and non-ferrous metals industries, with approximately 14,400 employees worldwide.

Based in Italy, SMS group S.p.A. employs over 500 staff across Tarcento (Udine), San Donato Milanese (Milan), and Genoa. The company specializes in producing innovative, turnkey plants including hot and cold rolling mills for flat products, process lines, reheating furnaces, heat treatment lines, mills for long products, meltshops, and continuous casting machines.

We are seeking a Project Manager Sales SIE HANDELN to:

  • Represent SMS group to customers and manage internal project relationships;
  • Conduct regular project discussions and negotiations with clients and consortium members, documenting outcomes;
  • Lead core team meetings, documenting results;
  • Act as the overall sales project owner, functioning as an "entrepreneur inside the company";
  • Understand project goals, requirements, and bid budget;
  • Develop project strategies in collaboration with the Core Sales Team and Project Owner Sales;
  • Manage the Core Sales Team;
  • Allocate project budgets and manage target costing based on project financials;
  • Negotiate as the official contact point with clients and partners, handling all technical and commercial communications until contract signing;
  • Organize project meetings, including risk assessments;
  • Adhere to travel policies and obtain necessary approvals;
  • Request and manage all project-related data and information;
  • Possess written power of attorney for contract negotiations, with legal signing authority designated to a company representative.

Requirements:

  • Graduate or Bachelor/Master in Mechanical Engineering or similar;
  • 3-4 years of experience in technical sales within complex plant manufacturing;
  • Experience analyzing customer requests and preparing technical offers;
  • Commercial acumen for identifying competitive solutions and manufacturing strategies;
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical technical drawings; basic knowledge of media systems, electrical, and automation packages;
  • Strong coordination skills for managing proposal teams;
  • Willingness to travel globally as needed;
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus;
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Project, and basic SAP knowledge;
  • Experience with drawing tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo) is a plus but not required.
