A leading company in plant and machinery manufacturing is seeking a Project Manager Sales. The role focuses on managing customer relationships, overseeing project negotiations, and coordinating sales strategies. Ideal candidates will have a Mechanical Engineering background with strong technical sales experience, and are fluent in English, while knowledge of German is advantageous.

SMS group S.p.A. is an Italian company with over 500 employees across three locations: Tarcento (Udine), San Donato Milanese (Milan), and Genoa. It specializes in producing innovative and turn-key plants, including hot and cold rolling mills for flat products, process lines, reheating furnaces, heat treatment lines, rolling mills for long products, meltshops, and continuous casting machines.

We are seeking a

Project Manager Sales SIE HANDELN

  • Representing SMS group towards customers and managing internal project relationships;
  • Conducting regular project discussions and negotiations with customers and consortium members, documenting outcomes;
  • Leading core team meetings and documenting results;
  • Holding the role of "entrepreneur inside the company" as the authorized sales project manager;
  • Understanding project goals, requirements, and bid budget baseline;
  • Defining project strategy (Winning Strategy) in collaboration with the Core Sales Team and Project Owner Sales;
  • Managing the Core Sales Team;
  • Allocating the project budget (Bid Budget) within authorized limits;
  • Target costing based on project cost and results;
  • Negotiation authority as the official contact for technical and commercial matters, working closely with the Commercial and Technical Managers until contract signing;
  • Convening necessary meetings involving the Core Sales Team or contract partners, including risk meetings;
  • Adhering to travel policies and obtaining necessary approvals;
  • Requesting all relevant project data and information;
  • Holding power of attorney for contract negotiations, legally binding when signed by authorized representatives.

SIE WISSEN

  • Graduate or Bachelor/Master in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
  • 3-4 years of experience in technical sales for complex plant manufacturing companies;
  • Experience analyzing customer requests and preparing technical offers;
  • Commercial skills to identify competitive solutions and manufacturing strategies;
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical technical drawings, basic knowledge of media systems, electrical and automation packages;
  • Coordination skills to manage proposal project teams;
  • Willingness to travel worldwide;
  • Fluent in English; German knowledge is a plus;
  • Proficient in MS Office (including Project) and basic knowledge of SAP;
  • Drawing tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo) are a plus but not required.
