My client is a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) and one of the fastest-growing solar energy providers in Europe. With a substantial and rapidly expanding pipeline of utility-scale Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Wind projects, they are positioning themselves as a future market leader in the European renewable energy sector.

Backed by international investment and an experienced leadership team, they operate across several European markets with ambitious growth targets and a long-term vision for clean energy development. With an established and highly capable development team in place, they are now looking to strengthen their presence in Italy and expand their operations through the recruitment of a dedicated Project Manager based in their Milan office.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful development of large-scale renewable energy projects in Italy, with a particular focus on Solar PV and BESS, and some involvement in onshore wind. You will take ownership of projects from early-stage development through to permitting, approvals, and pre-construction readiness.

Working closely with local stakeholders, regulatory bodies, grid operators, consultants, and internal teams, you will play a key role in delivering projects that meet both commercial and environmental targets. This is a high-impact position offering genuine responsibility, visibility, and the chance to influence the energy transition at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Italy, from site identification and acquisition through to full permitting and ready-to-build status.
• Lead and coordinate all permitting activities, including environmental impact assessments, grid applications, and local authority approvals.
• Liaise with technical consultants, legal advisors, landowners, and public institutions to ensure compliance and progress at every stage.
• Monitor regulatory developments and grid connection opportunities to inform project strategy.
• Collaborate with the internal development, legal, technical, and commercial teams across Europe.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, timelines, and risk registers.
• Represent the company in meetings with stakeholders, communities, and authorities.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience managing the development of large-scale renewable energy projects in Italy (Solar PV, BESS, and/or Wind).
• In-depth understanding of Italian permitting and regulatory frameworks for energy infrastructure.
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple complex projects concurrently.
• Confident working across a matrix organisation and with international teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Degree in engineering, environmental science, energy, or a related field preferred.
• Fluency in Italian and strong command of English is essential.
