Job Description:

This position is based at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy, or can be home-based. The Fisheries and Aquaculture Division promotes sustainable aquatic food systems. The role involves developing projects like NAVAC that focus on aquatic products for vulnerable populations, fostering partnerships, and managing project activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Formulating and coordinating cooperation and projects in liaison with national teams.
  • Supporting and monitoring value chain development, facilitating stakeholder linkages, and organizing workshops.
  • Collaborating with consultants to ensure sustainable value chain approaches.
  • Developing partnerships with relevant institutions and stakeholders.
  • Integrating monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Sharing lessons learned and best practices.
  • Contributing to a knowledge base on fisheries and aquaculture value chain development.
  • Designing and maintaining project databases and budgets.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Candidate requirements:

  • University degree in relevant fields such as economic development, fisheries, aquaculture, etc.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience for COF category A or 15 years for PSA category A.
  • Working knowledge of English, French, or Spanish, and limited knowledge of another FAO language.

Core competencies and skills:

  • Experience in multiple locations, especially in field positions.
  • Expertise in project formulation, value chain development, post-harvest improvements, and related areas.
  • Experience in database management is a plus.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and/or French/Spanish.
