Scope of the Role

Reporting to the BU Management and Operations Manager, this person will be a self-starter working on their own initiative. They will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the project, with an approximate value of €70M to €180M. Leading and managing the project team and interfacing with the client team, this person will set clear direction and expectations for the safe, on-time, on-budget delivery of the fully integrated build. The core project management team will create the vision, provide leadership, set targets, create processes and procedures, manage quality, and ensure adherence to all EHS requirements across all projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Role
  • Schedule and chair meetings with your team, the design team, and the client.
  • Follow up and ensure timely closure of outstanding items.
  • Attend and contribute to EHS and QA meetings.
  • Conduct weekly audits and implement Mercury's project audit plan.
  • Review weekly project audits and address open items with your team.
  • Discuss findings and trends with your Construction Manager, team, and BU leads.
  • Ensure audit findings are communicated clearly to all stakeholders.
  • Drive closure of all open audit findings.
  • Communicate all EHS alerts effectively and engage in related campaigns.
  • Ensure Mercury procedures are in place and adhered to on your project.
  • Review and understand project specifications and documentation.
  • Plan procurement and ensure engineering meets deadlines.
  • Complete Material Take Offs and compare with subcontractor pricing.
  • Review output quality and foster continuous improvement.
  • Attend planned meetings such as TBT, SLT, DABS.
  • Attend client meetings and promote a strong QEHS approach.
  • Make training available for your team and subcontractors, setting standards for training requirements.
  • Review weekly progress with the project planner and implement strategies to keep the project on track.
  • Use project lookaheads to drive progress and coordinate with project teams.
  • Manage subcontractor meetings, safety walks, and audits.
  • Guide and assist your project team, align expectations, and set KPIs.
Essential Criteria for the Role
  • An engineering degree or recognized trade qualification.
  • 10+ years’ experience managing large construction projects as a general contractor.
  • Thorough knowledge of civil, structural, and architectural packages.
  • Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
  • Ability to manage a team effectively, set expectations, delegate, and review.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good team-working skills.
