JDL Recruitment is partnering with a leading data centre developer to appoint a Project Director in Milan. This permanent role in Italy requires travel between project sites nationally and regionally.

You will report to the Senior Director of Project Management and Implementation and lead a team of five direct reports, overseeing multi-site data centre delivery. The position emphasizes end-to-end project management, from mobilisation to handover, with responsibilities spanning design alignment,

Competenze

• 12+ years' experience in data centre project management and implementation.
• At least 4 years at Director level.
• Proven track record delivering large scale, complex data centre projects.
• Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure and industry standards.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

• Lead end-to-end implementation of data centre projects from mobilisation through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Ensure alignment with design, Employer's Requirements, client governance, contractual obligations and local authority requirements.

JDL Recruitment are excited to be partnering with a leading data centre developer as they look to expand their team with a Project Director in Milan.

This is a permanent position based in Italy, with travel required between project sites nationally and across the region as needed. The role reports into the Senior Director of Project Management and Implementation and leads a team of five direct reports, with a competitive package on offer.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end to end implementation of data centre projects from mobilisation through construction, commissioning and handover
• Ensure alignment with approved design, Employer's Requirements, client governance, contractual obligations and local authority requirements
• Oversee project and construction activities across multiple sites, holding delivery to quality, safety, schedule and cost targets
• Coordinate internal stakeholders across Operations, IT, Security, Design and Planning alongside external contractors and vendors
• Chair project, site and progress meetings, providing clear direction and resolving issues as they arise
• Manage project and construction risks, variations and claims in coordination with commercial and contracts teams
• Oversee commissioning, performance testing and readiness reviews, ensuring compliance with industry standards including Uptime Institute Tier requirements
• Drive structured handover to Operations, covering documentation, as builts, O&M manuals and readiness sign off
• Lead general contractors, subcontractors, vendors and consultants, including prequalification and technical evaluation
• Manage budgets, site variations, resource allocation and expenditure to protect financial performance
• Coordinate with local and international authorities to secure required approvals
• Report weekly on project status to management

Requirements

• 12+ years' experience in data centre project management and implementation, with at least 4 years at Director level
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Master's degree preferred
• Proven track record delivering large scale, complex data centre implementation projects
• Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure including servers, storage, network systems, cooling, power management and security
• Expertise across design review, project management, construction and commissioning, with familiarity of Uptime Institute Tier standards
• Knowledge of industry compliance and local and international standards
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects without compromising delivery or quality
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Proficiency in English and Italian
