Purpose of the job:

The Project Contract Manager (PrCM) is a key member of the project team, working closely with the Project Manager and core project team. He/she provides guidance and leadership to develop, implement, and drive contract/claim management and risk mitigation strategies in line with Alstom’s business objectives; including extensions of time (EoTs), variation orders, and contract amendments. He/she ensures proper record keeping and file preparation to support robust claim files.

Key accountabilities:

  1. Ensures application of the Contract, Claims and Insurance Management Manual (CCIM) and Alstom governance.
  2. Prepares Contract Summary and ensures it is widely communicated and regularly updated.
  3. Analyzes contracts to develop and implement Contract/Claim Management Strategy Plans.
  4. Ensures timely elaboration of the Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) by project team members, with accurate communication and updates.
  5. Monitors project works towards contract obligations, including schedule adherence to contractual milestones.
  6. Ensures timely issuance of contractual notices to customers and partners.
  7. Establishes and implements project-specific commercial procedures, especially regarding correspondence, notifications, insurance, variation requests/orders, and claims files.
  8. Maintains reliable filing and easy access to correspondence from and to customers and partners.
  9. Manages correspondence by analyzing incoming and outgoing communications with customers and partners.
  10. Develops project-specific processes and workflows for contract and claim management.
  11. Develops a pragmatic commercial approach based on contractual analysis to protect Alstom’s interests daily.
  12. Monitors, records, and notifies customers and partners about claims and counterclaims, managing all related documentation for negotiations.
  13. Monitors requests for variations, change orders, and extensions of time, following up to ensure transactional closure, updating registers, preparing commercial offers, and contractual letters for approval.
  14. Provides advice on specific issues, risks, and contractual/claims activities, considering contract and business objectives.
  15. Reports on contract management and claims activities to project, legal, and contract management teams.
  16. Provides training on contract and claim management to key stakeholders such as project management, finance, engineering, and sourcing teams.
  17. Anticipates risks and events related to contract activities; proposes counter-strategies and solutions to maintain control.
  18. Collaborates with project directors, managers, controllers, engineering managers, sourcing contract managers, and planning managers to identify and mitigate risks and leverage claim opportunities.
  19. Provides reliable contractual and commercial analysis upon management demand.
  20. Must be able to travel up to 20-30% of the time.
