ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) enhances WFP's governance through internal audit and investigations. It comprises the Office of Internal Audit (OIGA) and the Office of Investigations and Inspections (OIGI). The position is based in Rome and reports to the Manager of the Professional Practices and Audit Innovation Team.

THE ROLE

This role supports the development and implementation of the OIGA quality assessment and improvement program, reviews audit quality, promotes best practices, and introduces innovative approaches to internal audit.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring the quality assurance program.
  • Conduct reviews of audit engagements to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Develop policies and procedures aligned with professional standards.
  • Design and implement innovative audit methods leveraging technology and data analytics.
  • Support reporting and trend analysis in audit reports.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and management within OIGA.
  • Help develop performance management systems and training programs for audit staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Master's degree in business, public administration, audit, finance, economics, or related fields, or a first-level degree with additional relevant experience. Professional certifications like CIA, CISA, CA, CPA, or CFE are advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum three years in internal audit, with experience in quality assessments being a plus. Experience in international organizations preferred.

Language:

  • Fluent in English (level C) and intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese. Proficiency in additional languages is highly desirable.

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of the International Professional Practices Framework.
  • Understanding of audit best practices and knowledge management tools.
  • Data analytics skills are an asset.

Additional/Nice-to-Have:

  • Professional certifications like CIA, CA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in fraud prevention or forensic auditing.
  • Knowledge of UN policies and procedures.

Terms and Conditions

This position requires mobility, is classified as non-rotational, and offers a fixed-term contract with a one-year probation. The candidate must relocate to Rome, Italy. The package includes salary, allowances, leave, education grants, pension, and health insurance.
