Overview
Our client, an international operating company, is currently seeking a Production Shift Superintendent to work residentially in Milan, Italy, to support pre-operations preparation for a major LNG project.
Responsibilities
During Engineering phase:
- Review engineering documents and ensure they are coherent and in line with Company expectations.
- Develop and write production procedures.
- Participate in the definition of start-up sequence, considering the reduction of flare emissions.
- Participate in Hazop and engineering reviews, DCS FATs, and reduction of alarms.
- Develop and implement production processes (PTW, inhibitions, downgraded situations, safety tours, logs, Simops).
- Develop the list of production tools.
- Implement digital solutions (digital twin, PI, etc.).
- Recruit and train production staff, especially local personnel.
During Operation phase:
- Ensure safety of personnel, environmental protection, and the technical integrity of equipment under his domain; implement HSE rules and follow procedures.
- Maintain good housekeeping of CCR, offices, kitchen, storages and site; ensure a clean and safe working environment and proper storage of equipment.
- Occasionally participate in near-misses analyses, HAZOPs, technical reviews, risk assessments, safety audits, root cause analyses, incidents and accidents analyses.
- Formally record all downgraded situations.
- Perform the role defined by the Company Work Permit System and SIMOPS management plans.
- Perform the role defined by the Company Emergency Response Plan.
- Direct and supervise the activities of plant production personnel to ensure safe operation within agreed parameters and adherence to procedures and standards.
- Ensure activities are coordinated and covered by a PTW; ensure work practices follow approved standards for consistent and safe plant activities.
- Identify work methods and precautions for all shift works and direct proper maintenance of plant equipment to maintain safe conditions.
- Carry out regular safety and plant integrity audits (PTW system, firefighting equipment, equipment conditions, etc.).
- For critical jobs (where applicable), participate in permit preparation meetings and control PTW openings.
- Troubleshoot plant problems and guide Production teams on corrective actions to maintain continuity of operations.
- Prioritize all works in consultation with Maintenance and Inspection personnel to ensure safety, integrity, and production targets.
- Ensure proper shutdown planning and coordination and effective handling of emergency situations, providing required support for safe and efficient execution.
- Represent LNG Plant Management during night shifts in dealings with shipping personnel, plant security, and shift discipline support teams; assume on-site responsibility for operations outside normal hours until Plant Management returns to work.
- Operate within established technical procedures and standards, using initiative during changing conditions and emergencies.
- Log and communicate shift activities via shift logs; prepare written reports on plant trips, abnormal operations, and accidents to inform concerned parties.
- Manage development of employees, especially Nationals, to achieve maximum performance for the company.
- Participate in identifying training needs and ensure proper implementation of approved training programs within the department.
- Set annual objectives for subordinates and review regularly; perform end-of-year appraisals.
Required Experience
- Bachelor of higher education in Applied Science or Chemical Engineering or equivalent with international standard and solid experience.
- Minimum 20 years of specific production experience in oil, gas or petrochemical industry.
- Minimum 10 years in Senior Production Positions.
- Minimum 10 years in LNG production plants (not LNG terminals).
- Excellent knowledge of oil & gas / LNG production processes and methods.
- Excellent knowledge of natural gas treatment, LNG production activities, storage & loading, and utilities operations.
- Excellent ability to troubleshoot process problems and upsets.
- Excellent knowledge of HSE and Environment Management systems.
- Excellent knowledge of PTW systems in the Oil & Gas Industry.
- High knowledge of Emergency Response systems and experience in handling plant emergencies.
- Good knowledge of computer Windows office applications.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
