We are hiring a Product Manager - Industrial Sector Lead

Open source technologies are transforming the industrial sector, enabling innovation in IoT, edge computing, robotics, and Industry 4.0 solutions. Ubuntu plays a key role in these innovations, being widely deployed in manufacturing, automation, and industrial platforms. Canonical has created a product leadership role for industrial technologies. This role is ideal for a technology leader with experience in automation systems, IoT platforms, and edge computing. Key focus areas include:

• IoT solutions for smart manufacturing and industrial automation
• Edge computing platforms for real-time processing and analytics
• Robotics and AI applications for industrial use cases
• Industry 4.0 technologies and integration with cloud platforms
• Open source software and community engagement in industrial innovation

The role involves product leadership and go-to-market strategy, translating product vision into actionable plans, overseeing the entire product lifecycle, and staying ahead of market demands. Sector Leads identify market opportunities, bridge technology and business, and gauge user perception to drive product success. They collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and management to align business goals with market needs and contribute to overall strategy. Candidates should have a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, project management, and effective communication, with a preference for experienced software engineers aspiring to business leadership roles.

Location:

This role is remote within the EMEA region.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading the product lifecycle, reviewing priorities and goals
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to address challenges and align on priorities
• Conducting market research, analyzing trends, and gathering customer feedback
• Communicating product vision, status, and decisions
• Conducting usability testing and iterating on the product
• Developing go-to-market strategies, creating documentation, and training
• Supporting sales efforts by reviewing customer feedback and participating in meetings

Qualifications:

• Strong academic results at high school and university levels
• Experience in product management within technical domains related to open source software
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IoT, and edge computing
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Understanding of industrial open source software and infrastructure projects like Kubernetes and OpenStack
• Solid knowledge of Linux and computer architecture, including Ubuntu
• Passion for technology and open source principles
• Ownership mindset, problem-solving skills, and out-of-the-box thinking
• Willingness to travel up to four times a year
