A leading engineering firm in Italy is seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer with over 10 years in engineering activities. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with design criteria and manage various aspects of process safety and risk assessment. Responsibilities include providing technical support, managing client disciplines, and preparing safety management plans. The position is based in Fano, Marche and requires a Master's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.

Competenze

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Technical Safety Engineer, overseeing full EPC project lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of Technical Safety aspects, techniques, and tools.
  • Fluent in English.

PES ENGINEERING was born from the Engineering Division of PES, founded in 1979, and currently has over 140 permanent engineering staff, boasting significant experience in the Oil & Gas, Power, Renewable Energy, Chemical, Petrochemical, and Automotive sectors. PES ENGINEERING provides technical and engineering services (Civil, Rotating Machinery, Static Equipment, Process, HSE Design, Electrical Instrumentation, Layout & Piping), offering over 200,000 engineering hours per year to all major Oil & Gas Companies, EPC Contractors, Industrial Manufacturers, etc. Currently, PES ENGINEERING has seven offices in Italy: HQ in Rosignano Solvay (LI), San Donato Milanese, Florence, Rome, Bari, Vibo Marina (VV), and Gela. Process Safety Engineer wanted

The ideal candidate must have experience of over 10 years in the execution of engineering activities within its discipline, ensuring compliance with design criteria, international standards, and good engineering practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support, advice, and recommendations to Project Managers / Project Director regarding Process Safety and Risk Assessment requirements, and prepare project-specific Process Safety and Risk Management Plans.
  • Manage the Client for TSE discipline.
  • Attend project meetings as required (e.g., Engineering Coordination Meetings, Client or Supplier meetings, Design review, HAZID / HAZOP / SIL workshops, 3D Model Review).
  • Directly or coordinate the execution of Fire Fighting Calculations.
  • Prepare main documents such as HSE Design Criteria, Fire Protection Criteria and Specifications, P&IDs (fire fighting), Hazardous Area Classification Plan, F&G System, Fire Fighting & Safety Equipment, Escape Routes & Safety Signals Layouts, Flare Radiation, Noise Emission and Gas Dispersion Study, Fire Fighting Equipment Material Requisition and Technical Bid Evaluation, HAZID / HAZOP / SIL Reports and Follow-up, QRA, FERA, EERA, RAM Analysis, Noise Study.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables in terms of technical content, compliance with design criteria, international standards, and good engineering practices.
  • Ensure interdisciplinary technical information is available as required by other disciplines.
  • Review engineering deliverables for quality and compliance, mark-up comments or revisions, and ensure updates are incorporated.
  • Support 3D Model implementation and follow-up vendor activities if required.
  • Prepare offers and provide technical support during bidding phases.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Technical Safety Engineer, capable of overseeing the full EPC project lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of Technical Safety, techniques, and tools.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written), planning, organization, critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and team management skills.
  • Adaptability and stress tolerance.
  • Familiarity with proprietary software including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, PIPENET, PHAST, and FRED.
  • Knowledge of relevant international codes and standards such as PTS, DEP, API, ISO, NORSOK, NFPA, DNV, ABS, among others.
  • Fluent in English.
