RINA is currently recruiting for a Process Engineer - Waste Water Treatment to join its office in Genoa, Rozzano or Fano within the Plant Engineering Division.

Mission

The Process Engineer plays an invaluable role in our energy projects at RINA Consulting S.p.A., leading process engineering activities with a focus on process design, optimisation, and seamless project execution. This position is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our energy assets, paving the way for sustainable solutions within the industry. The Process Engineer will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative water treatment plant designs, contributing significantly to the enhancement of environmental outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

Lead Process Design and Development:

You will be responsible for developing comprehensive feasibility studies and conceptual designs for various water treatment plants, encompassing potable, wastewater, and industrial applications. Your technical documentation will support all design phases, including Basic, FEED, and Detail Design. Specific tasks will include:

  • Creation of process flow diagrams (PFDs), utility flow diagrams (UFDs), and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Performing mass and energy balances to ensure efficiency.
  • Developing detailed specifications for treatment plant components and functional units, including Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems.
  • Compiling equipment, line, fluid, and instrument lists along with datasheets and duty specifications for all pertinent equipment.
  • Generating calculation reports for process systems and utilities, including hydraulic profile calculations.
  • Constructing cause/effect matrices, control logic diagrams, process narratives, and operational philosophies.
  • Conducting hydraulic sizing of pivotal pipelines and main equipment such as pumps and reactors.
  • Executing process simulations with state-of-the-art software, ensuring optimal solutions are achieved.
  • Developing custom calculation spreadsheets for advanced technical analyses and process optimisation initiatives.
  • Assisting engineering teams with data collection for environmental permits and preparing project deliverables such as technical reports and engineering drawings.
  • Monitoring project timelines, preparing progress reports, and ensuring adherence to the company’s Quality Policy and Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Additionally, you will be a critical liaison between engineering and construction teams, addressing contractor inquiries and ensuring alignment throughout project implementation.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Master’s Degree in Energy Engineering or Chemical Engineering

Qualifications

  • +5 years of experience in process engineering within the energy industry.
  • Proven track record of leading process design and optimization projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong technical expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and engineering tools.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
