Job summary

BorgWarner is seeking a Process & Manufacturing Engineer IT/OT Automation & AI to design, develop and optimize manufacturing processes by integrating automation, data-driven solutions and digital technologies. The role bridges OT and IT, supporting new product launches, process development, continuous improvement and digital transformation projects.

You will collaborate with production, quality, engineering and sales teams to enhance safety, quality, productivity and equipment performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial, Manufacturing, Computer Engineering or equivalent).
• 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Industrial Automation or IT/OT integration.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation systems, PLCs, SCADA/HMI networks.
• Familiarity with PFMEA and OEE analysis.
• Basic knowledge of data analytics and AI/ML applications is a plus.
• Strong analytical, project management and teamwork skills.
• Good command of English.
• Experience in automotive or global manufacturing environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support new product launches, process development and improvements to safety, quality and productivity.
• Design and implement IT/OT integration solutions connecting equipment, MES, ERP and cloud.
• Analyze processes and data to improve OEE, reduce waste and optimize performance.
• Develop automation, robotics, digitalization and AI-based solutions for predictive maintenance and quality.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality and Sales to define manufacturing strategies.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, procedures and standards.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and capacity.
• Participate in feasibility reviews and drive continuous improvement across operations.
• Coordinate digital transformation and Industry 5.0 projects with internal and external partners.
• Contribute to cross-functional and international projects using structured problem-solving.

The Process & Manufacturing Engineer IT/OT Automation & AI is responsible for designing, developing and optimizing manufacturing processes by integrating industrial automation, digital technologies and advanced data-driven solutions. Acting as a bridge between Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT), this role supports new product launches, process development, continuous improvement initiatives and digital transformation projects. The position focuses on enhancing safety, quality, productivity, equipment performance and manufacturing efficiency through automation, data analytics, AI-driven applications and cross-functional collaboration with production, quality, engineering and sales teams.

• Support new product launches, process development and manufacturing improvements to achieve safety, quality, cost and productivity targets.
• Design and implement IT/OT integration solutions connecting production equipment, automation systems, MES, ERP and cloud platforms.
• Analyze manufacturing processes and production data to improve OEE, reduce waste and optimize operational performance.
• Develop and support automation, robotics, digitalization and AI-based solutions for process optimization, predictive maintenance and quality improvement.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality and Sales teams in defining manufacturing strategies, industrialization plans, investment projects.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, process standards, technical procedures, ensuring compliance with quality and safety requirements.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, capacity, efficiency and ergonomics.
• Participate in product feasibility reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate digital transformation and Industry 5.0 projects, working with internal stakeholders and external technology partners.
• Contribute to cross-functional and international projects, applying structured problem-solving and engineering methodologies.

Education/experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial, Manufacturing, Computer Engineering or equivalent).
• 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Industrial Automation or IT/OT integration within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation systems, PLCs, SCADA/HMI and industrial communication networks.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies, OEE analysis, PFMEA and problem-solving tools.
• Basic knowledge of data analytics, industrial databases, and AI/Machine Learning applications is considered a plus.
• Strong analytical, project management and teamwork skills.
• Good command of English.
• Experience in the automotive or other global manufacturing environments is preferred.
