Job summary

Sonoco Canada is seeking an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer to optimize production processes, analyse KPI data, and lead data-driven improvements across cross-functional teams. The role focuses on lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methods, and the implementation of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and cost performance while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma, 5S, SMED and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Good knowledge of Hygiene and Food Safety and Health and Safety rules.
  • Languages: Good knowledge of English.
  • Advanced PC skills: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor process performance and KPIs (OEE, line spoilage, performance).
  • Develop and trials of new technologies to guarantee final production quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement through new technologies and preventive maintenance.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma and data analysis tools for data-driven decisions.
  • Develop and implement SOPs to control and measure efficiencies and spoilage.
  • Collect data, analyze efficiency, and identify best alternatives to maximize performance and reduce costs.
  • Adhere to Hygiene, Food Safety, Health and Safety procedures.

Job description

Job scope

Optimizing and continuously improving operational and production processes. Analysing and collect data for KPI through statistical tools . The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost performance while ensuring compliance with company standards and safety requirements.

Main duties
  • Monitoring process performance and KPIs (like OEE, line spoilage, performance,…)
  • Development and trials of new technologies in order to guarantee the final quality of the production.
  • Search constantly the process continuous improvement through new technologies implementation and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Use appropriate Lean, Six Sigma and data analysis tools to provide appropriate information for data-driven decisions
  • Development and implementation of Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) to control and measure the efficiencies, evaluating the equipment, methods of measurements, consumables and spoilage
  • Collect data and analyze process levels of efficiency identifying the bests alternatives in order to maximize efficiency, quality and reduce costs
  • Work according to Hygiene and Food Safety rules as well as Health and Safety regulations and procedures as specified in our procedures

Job requirements

Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Knowledge of principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations including SPC, Six Sigma, 5S, SMED and Lean Manufacturing Languages: Good knowledge of English Project management skills Team approach Advanced knowledge of PC’s and software programs Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint Good knowledge of Hygiene and Food Safety and Health and Safety rules and Environmental
