Do you want to help us build the DNA of tech? Vishay Italy is currently seeking applicants for an R&D PROCESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER. In this position, you will be a key contributor to the development and optimization of cutting-edge microfabrication processes for our next-generation power device technologies, focusing on both Silicon and Silicon Carbide materials. You will drive innovation by designing and implementing new process flows, evaluating and qualifying state-of-the-art equipment, and optimizing process recipes.
Job Location:
Vishay Semiconductor Italiana spa is focused on the design, development and production of power diodes and power modules. There are around 300 employees currently working in Borgaro Torinese, Italy. This number is constantly growing due to our expansion plans.

What you will be doing:

  1. Define and develop new microfabrication process flows for Silicon and Silicon Carbide diode structures
  2. Evaluate, qualify, and integrate new process equipment into the production line
  3. Utilize process and device simulation tools to predict and optimize process outcomes
  4. Optimize process recipes to achieve desired device performance and yield targets
  5. Implement and maintain statistical process control (SPC) systems for process monitoring and improvement
  6. Conduct thorough process characterization and failure analysis to identify and resolve issues
  7. Collaborate with design and characterization teams on new product introduction projects
  8. Apply lean manufacturing principles to streamline production processes and reduce waste
  9. Document process procedures and maintain accurate records for process traceability
  10. Participate in technology transfer activities to move new processes from R&D to production

What you will bring along:

  1. A Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or a related field. PhD is preferred
  2. Experience with process and/or device simulation software (e.g. Comsol, TCAD). Knowledge of Silvaco tools is considered a plus
  3. Proven experience in semiconductor microfabrication processes, preferably with Silicon and/or Silicon Carbide
  4. Strong understanding of process equipment and techniques, including lithography, etching, deposition, and metrology
  5. Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), data analysis tools and design of experiments (DOE). Knowledge of JMP is considered a plus
  6. Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and process optimization methodologies
  7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on detail
  8. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment
  9. Ability to manage multiple projects in collaboration with teams in different sites
  10. A proactive and results-oriented approach with a passion for innovation
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  12. Willingness to travel
