Description

Seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant, RNFA, or Physician Assistant for a PRN role at UH Parma Medical Center. Surgical first assist experience required.

Surgical Assistant

The Surgical Assistant works under the supervision of the attending physician to provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions to assist the surgeon in performing safe operations with optimal patient outcomes. They perform preoperative and postoperative duties to meet the needs of the patient during the perioperative period, providing technical 1st and 2nd assistance for surgical procedures.

What you will do - Surgical Assistant
  • Provide intraoperative technical functions in all facets of the first assistant role.
  • Display knowledge of human anatomy and physiology while delivering safe patient care.
  • Establish and maintain a safe perioperative environment.
  • Support the perioperative area or perform other duties as assigned.
Physician Assistant

The Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for providing quality patient care, increasing access, and enhancing patient satisfaction. Tasks performed by a PA are as specified by the Ohio State Board of Medicine and UH entity-specific Medical Bylaws.

RNFA

The RNFA works under the supervision of the attending physician to assess, manage, and evaluate the surgical patient during the perioperative period. They provide technical 1st and 2nd assistance for surgical procedures.

What You Will Do - RNFA
  • Apply the nursing process in all aspects of the nurse first assistant role.
  • Display knowledge of human anatomy and physiology while ensuring patient safety.
  • Establish and maintain a safe perioperative environment.
  • Provide educational opportunities to residents, nursing staff, students, and others involved in surgery and patient management.
  • Utilize ongoing data collection to support research and improve patient care quality.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation during orientation for specific duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with policies and training.
