Overview

Freelance / Contractor PCB Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Freelance / Contractor PCB Designer to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of PCB design, from initial schematic capture to final Gerber file generation, for a variety of projects in the satellite communications sector.

Hybrid, remote can be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and layout of complex multi-layer PCBs, ensuring adherence to manufacturing guidelines.
• Work closely with electronics engineers to translate schematics into physical board layouts.
• Manage and maintain design documentation, including BOMs (Bills of Materials) and assembly drawings.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, particularly those from the IPC (Association Connecting Electronics Industries).
• Perform RF (Radio Frequency) and antenna layout, with a focus on impedance matching and signal integrity.
• Potential to design and implement filter circuits as part of the overall PCB design.
• Prepare and deliver all necessary files for Printed Circuit Board Manufacturing.

Required Skills & Experience

• PCB Design: Extensive experience with industry-standard CAD software (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro).
• Electronics: Solid foundational knowledge of electronic circuits, components, and their behavior.
• Document Management: Proven ability to manage and maintain detailed design documentation.
• IPC: In-depth knowledge of IPC standards for PCB design and manufacturing. 6012
• Radio Frequency (RF): Experience with RF layout techniques, including controlled impedance traces and isolation.
• Antennas: Familiarity with antenna design principles and on-board antenna integration. Highly desirable
• Filter Design: Practical experience in designing and implementing various types of electronic filters. Highly desirable
• Satellite Communications: A background in designing for space or satellite-related applications is highly desirable.
