ABB in Bergamo, Italy seeks an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to design advanced SSCB systems, perform multi-level simulations, and lead prototype testing. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, efficiency, and compliance with standards.

The role requires 5+ years in power electronics, expertise with SiC/GaN devices, Altium, MATLAB, and a strong hands-on approach to development within an agile R&D setting.

Formación

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics focus.
• 5+ years of professional power electronics experience.
• Expertise with IGBTs, MOSFETs, SiC/GaN devices and thermal characterization.
• Knowledge of DC/DC, inverter, and rectifier topologies.
• PCB layout experience with Altium Designer; PSPICE tooling.
• MATLAB/Python for numerical simulations and scripting.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop advanced power electronic systems for SSCB, including semiconductor stacks, gate drivers, and protection schemes.
• Conduct circuit- and system-level simulations to evaluate performance under faults and transients.
• Lead prototype development: build hardware, define tests, validate safety and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware and design issues, implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate on PCB layout with emphasis on insulation, SI, and EMC.
• Prepare design reports, technical docs, and test procedures throughout development lifecycle.
