Position: Power Electronics Engineer

Location: Montecchio Maggiore (VI), Italy

With a team of over 800 employees, our Montecchio Maggiore plant is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join the Xylem Electronics Center of Excellence. This center aims to standardize and enhance Xylem’s power electronics capabilities to design a range of custom motor drives (variable frequency) that meet high standards of efficiency, usability, and reliability across various water applications.

The electronic engineers in this team are responsible for power electronics and motor control for a portfolio of variable frequency drives used within Xylem. These products are based on a reusable platform that can be customized for specific applications and environments.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Design, test, and verify electronic products and prototypes for single-phase and three-phase power supplies up to 1000 V.
  2. Create schematic diagrams and PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
  3. Design and simulate analog signal chains with SPICE.
  4. Design, test, and prototype magnetic components.
  5. Perform EMC/EMI testing and debugging.
  6. Ensure compliance with product standards.
  7. Collaborate with firmware engineers, physicists, and mechanical engineers.
  8. Generate design, testing, and verification documentation.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electronic Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics.
  2. At least 2 years of experience in power electronics design.
  3. Excellent command of English and Italian languages.
  4. Good knowledge of digital and analog circuit design.
  5. Experience with schematic and layout design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, PADS, etc.
  6. Knowledge of gate drive design, circuit protection, analog filters, and analog signal processing.
Preferred Additional Skills:
  1. Knowledge of motor control theory (synchronous and asynchronous).
  2. Practical experience with EMC/EMI testing and debugging.
  3. Design, specification, and testing of magnetic components.
  4. Experience with PFC boost, fly-back, and half/full-bridge converters.
  5. Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of energy engineering fundamentals and theory.
