Description

Power and EMC Lead Engineer, Vega and Space Rider Launch System and Engineering, Flight Programmes, Directorate of Space Transportation. Under the direct authority of the Vega and Space Rider Launch System and Engineering Manager and the functional coordination of the Vega and Space Rider Avionics, GNC and FSW Engineering Manager, you will undertake analysis, definition, and verification tasks concerning power generation and distribution, EMC/EMI, and radio frequency functions of the Vega-C, Vega-E, and Space Rider systems.

Duties

Your activities will include power generation, storage, and distribution systems for Vega and Space Rider vehicles and onboard-ground end-to-end functions. You will oversee the verification of system-level functions with an end-to-end perspective. Additionally, you will support the development, qualification, and recurrent production of subsystems and equipment within your domain.

You will ensure the system’s conformance to electrical interface, EMC/EMI, and radio frequency requirements by defining and justifying requirements, developing verification plans, supervising their implementation, and producing system-level definition and qualification files.

Responsibilities also include supporting recurrent production and system operation activities, such as equipment/subsystem/system-level testing, analyzing waivers and anomalies, and proposing efficient working methods to achieve results with technical excellence and resource efficiency.

Your main tasks will include:

  1. Performing trade-off analyses at the system and subsystem levels;
  2. Allocating technical requirements from the system to power subsystems;
  3. Assisting in writing statements of work;
  4. Leading study contracts and managing technical support staff activities;
  5. Evaluating industry offers and deliverables;
  6. Supporting project milestones and reviews;
  7. Managing schedules and risks;
  8. Monitoring hardware manufacturing and acceptance, ensuring compliance with qualification ranges;
  9. Assessing and resolving anomalies and waivers;
  10. Reviewing harness system design and manufacturing;
  11. Assessing power system definitions and EMC/EMI compliance;
  12. Supervising system resilience demonstrations and defining verification parameters;
  13. Addressing component/material obsolescence and cost reduction actions during exploitation.

Technical Competencies

Strong background in liquid propulsion system design, development, assembly, testing, and acceptance for space transportation. Knowledge of cost/schedule management, interface with other technical domains, space system development standards, risk management, ESA processes, power/harness system design, and relevant codes like ANSYS.

Education

A master's degree in a relevant engineering field is required.

Additional Requirements

Experience with Vega-related products is an asset.

Important Information and Disclaimer

The position will generally be within grade band A2-A4, but may be filled at A1 level if the candidate has less than four years of relevant experience post-master’s degree.
