For the Rehab Technologies INAIL IIT (https://rehab.iit.it/it/) research unit we are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to contribute to the development of next‑generation upper‑ and lower‑limb prosthetic systems that combine advanced sensing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and human‑machine interaction. The researcher will work at the intersection of physiological signal processing, machine learning, multimodal sensing, and prosthetic control, with the opportunity to develop and experimentally validate novel control approaches for prostheses. The research will span the full development cycle, from experimental design and multimodal data acquisition to signal processing, model development, and real‑time validation with prosthetic systems and human users. A key focus will be the analysis of multimodal and time‑series data, including electromyography (EMG), pressure, motion, and other physiological or biomechanical signals. The researcher will develop and validate model‑based and ML‑driven methods for prosthesis control, intent decoding, and human‑machine interaction, as e.g. shared‑autonomy and/or task‑agnostic control paradigms, with particular attention to robustness, generalization, and real‑world deployment. The position will also involve integrating data from novel sensing technologies enabled by emerging manufacturing processes, including Aerosol Jet Printing electronics. The researcher will contribute to the prototyping and experimental validation of these technologies and associated innovative control strategies. You will join a multidisciplinary and international research environment, working closely with researchers from robotics, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, neuroscience, and rehabilitation. The position offers the opportunity to develop independent research activities, contribute to scientific publications and international projects, and translate research concepts into innovative assistive technologies.
