The project “Future Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR)”, CUP J53C22003010006, is funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) under Decreto Direttoriale n. 1555, responding to Avviso N. 341/2022, part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The project aims to advance AI research with a focus on reliability, sustainability, and adaptivity, coordinated by IIT in Italy.

Location: Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Genoa, Italy

About Us

IIT develops human-centered Science and Technology to address societal challenges, with a focus on neuroscience, cognition, robotics, nanotechnology, and materials across Italy and internationally.

Your Team

You will conduct research within the FAIR project, specifically in the Humanoid Sensing and Perception group, focusing on deploying large vision-language models into autonomous robots to enable multi-modal object manipulation in open scenarios.

Your main responsibilities include:

1. Studying and implementing multi-modal models for perception and control;
2. Researching and benchmarking solutions on robotic platforms;
3. Collaborating with team members to meet research goals and disseminate findings.

Essential Requirements

• PhD in machine learning, robotics, computer science, or related field;
• Proficiency in Python or C/C++;
• Strong publication record;
• Excellent scientific communication skills in English.

Additional Skills

• Experience with robotic systems, machine learning (Transformers), robot control, grasping, vision, open-source software, simulators (Gazebo), and middleware (ROS/YARP);
• Good communication, problem-solving skills, motivation, creativity, time management, mentoring experience, and ability to work independently and in teams.
