European Tech Recruit is seeking mid-level PLC Automation Engineers to support a live industrial automation troubleshooting project in Italy. The role focuses on hands-on diagnosis of Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal, with additional Omron exposure as a plus.
Contract and onsite in Italy for 3-6 months, with a 3-shift rotation and accommodation provided. You will investigate live issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and production

The Opportunity
We are looking for PLC / Automation Engineers to support a live industrial automation troubleshooting project in Italy.
The key requirement is strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal, with Omron experience considered an advantage.
This is a production support and troubleshooting-focused assignment, rather than a greenfield programming project. You will be responsible for investigating live automation issues, analysing PLC logic, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and production performance.

What You'll Be Doing
The core requirement is the ability to systematically diagnose why automated equipment isn't performing correctly and determine the most effective solution.
Technical Experience
We are particularly interested in engineers with hands-on experience in:
Experience with Omron PLCs, including Sysmac Studio or CX-Programmer, would be beneficial but is not essential.
Experience with other platforms such as Rockwell / Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff or Mitsubishi is also advantageous.
