At DHL Group, we develop and maintain a central company-wide Data Science Platform to primarily enable our Data Scientists to accomplish the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence business goals for our customers across the globe. In order to enhance our portfolio and cater for the various natures and requirements of projects and customers, our Data Science Platform is hosted both on-premises and in the Cloud.

In this context, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Platform Engineer that would join us in this high-impact and high-visibility mission. As a Platform Engineer, you will play an important role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our Data Science Platform services and the underlying infrastructure. You will be a member of our core development and operations team to ensure the smooth functioning of services and delivery processes.

• Write efficient and reliable scripts to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and other operational tasks.
• Adopt DevOps best practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), and infrastructure automation to enhance development and deployment efficiencies by enabling rapid and reliable software delivery.
• Use Github and Github Actions to manage our code base, enforce version control best practices, and automate build and deployment processes.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, ensuring reliable and reproducible deployments across different environments.
• Design, deploy, and maintain software components using Kubernetes, supporting the operations of our services, and enriching the feature set thereof.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve platform-related issues, ensuring high availability and performance of the underlying infrastructure and applications.
• Carefully listen to the users’ concerns and wishes to identify the pain points and the improvement avenues that would lead to improving our services.
• Document standard operating procedures, best practices, and architectural diagrams to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain system documentation.

Your profile:

• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role, demonstrating successful delivery of infrastructure and platform solutions.
• Experience building containers using technologies like Docker and Podman.
• Experience in Kubernetes, including container orchestration, networking, and troubleshooting.
• Experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python for automation and infrastructure-as-code tasks.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Github, and knowledge of implementing CI/CD pipelines using Github Actions.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and principles, including continuous integration, continuous deployment, and infrastructure automation.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/GCP/AWS)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, e.g., Kubernetes and Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) teams.
• A proactive and self-driven mindset, with a passion for learning and adopting new technologies.
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Machine Learning platforms Kubeflow and Data Robot.
• Understanding of monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
