Introduction

Platform Engineer

Technology sales at IBM are evolving to break beyond boundaries with innovative approaches. Preferring to ‘show’ rather than ‘tell’, the Platform Engineer co-creates with clients in real-time to develop solutions that address their most challenging business problems.

As a Platform Engineer, you will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team comprising Architects, AI Engineers, Designers, and Business Technology Leaders. Together, we collaborate with clients during experiential working sessions and builds, producing pilots that lead to the deployment of enterprise-scale solutions at start-up speed.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will deliver unique client co-creation experiences to accelerate their transformation. You will be involved in all aspects of integrated solutions, from requirements gathering to technical decision-making that impacts the business case, working with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success to realize the full potential of hybrid cloud and AI solutions.

Your primary responsibilities include:

• Technical Expertise & Client Understanding: Leverage contemporary hybrid cloud skills like AI, analytics, DevOps, DevSecOps, and more. Deeply understand clients’ businesses to tailor solutions effectively.
• Technology & Solution Communication: Define and communicate IBM’s technology value both technically and commercially. Participate in client sessions focused on cloud technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Paks, and Kubernetes.
• Solution Architecture & Deployment Support: Advise on solution architecture aligned with best practices and support deployment transitions. Collaborate with deployment teams to ensure seamless platform asset transitions for clients.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Technical: Experience in cloud-related domains such as Data/Analytics, Data Science, Security, or other cloud-native, hybrid, or public-cloud technologies. Proficiency in at least one cloud-native programming language (Java, Python, HCL, Rust, Ansible, etc.). Practical knowledge of virtualized on-premise and cloud platforms.
• Solution Development & Deployment: Experience in building deployment automation workflows for applications and infrastructure. Familiarity with Agile development practices.
• Client-Facing Experience: Proven track record in participating in customer-facing technical solution teams across various cloud architectures.
