Descrizione del lavoro

The Platform Engineer role is responsible for configuration, installations, and upgrades to troubleshoot and maintain the hardware and software within the current technology environment. The role involves troubleshooting basic issues and providing support to develop appropriate solutions to maintain the integrity of the platform, including hardware and software infrastructure that are critical to the company's user populace and application environments.

They work closely with other IT professionals such as Application, Architect, and Database Engineers to ensure that all components of the platform are working effectively. The Platform Engineer uses strong knowledge of both traditional and modern platforms to assist in the smooth functioning of the company's infrastructure, including both cloud and on-premises systems, in support of DevOps efforts and general business and IT objectives.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Build hardware configurations, software installations, network requirements, and upgrades in alignment with business needs and the defined organizational standards.
  2. Assist in troubleshooting issues by following user guides or manuals to improve platforms in alignment with application goals.
  3. Provide support in configuring and integrating DevOps tools (such as API Gateway, Terraform) with other services such as authentication, caching, and logging to support organizational processes.
  4. Work closely with DevOps engineering and production teams to conduct testing on new features and services, and support production launches.
  5. Refine and review templates and scripts to assist in implementing and maintaining automated fulfillment mechanisms to optimize delivery of key platform services.
  6. Create prioritized team task lists and identify dependencies on other teams that work with a platform to ensure smooth operations.
  7. Identify security threats and suggest remedial measures to ensure compliance with security standards.
  8. Review and refine security and resiliency policies, standards, and procedures to protect infrastructure and ensure regulatory compliance.
  9. Support the production of high-level design documentation, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  10. Gather data and conduct preliminary research regarding user requests for system modifications or problem resolution.
  11. Coordinate platform changes and customizations with vendors, ensuring clear communication of requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 2-4 years of experience in platform engineering and infrastructure components.
  • Experience in automated interaction with physical infrastructure.
  • Moderate understanding of managing and maintaining cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and log management tools like Nagios, Splunk, and ELK.
  • Moderate understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, and Terraform.
  • Technical skills in programming languages, cloud platforms, CI/CD, DevOps methodologies, operating systems, network operations, containerization, monitoring, and integration technology.
