- Assist the Registered Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication, focusing on non-professional tasks.
- Fill, package, label, and stock unit dose carts from patient profiles or computerized pick lists; deliver to nursing units as scheduled; handle other deliveries as required.
- Fill bottles or packages with measured medication manually or mechanically.
- Label containers according to departmental specifications, manually or mechanically.
- Assist in sterile technique procedures in clean air rooms for filling and labeling injectable prescriptions.
- Assist in preparing and labeling IV additives.
- Fill medication orders in inpatient areas.
- Handle sudden or unexpected medication requests as needed.
Record Keeping and Documentation :
- Keep records for inpatient medications and extemporaneous preparations.
- Assist in maintaining medication order statistics and records.
- Enter refill orders into the computer system.
Inventory Management :
- Ensure sufficient inventory at pharmacy workstations.
- Transport pharmacy materials as needed.
- Record and control stock and inventory.
- Maintain daily inventory levels for efficient pharmacy operations.
- ADA Essential Functions
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current certification through PTCB or NHA.
- NYSED License.
- At least two years of retail pharmacy experience.
- Ability to learn computerized hospital pharmacy systems.
Must be able to perform physically strenuous work.
