Payroll Lead - Italy

What you'll be doing

To succeed as a Payroll Lead, you’ll need solid expertise in managing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while staying compliant with local laws, collective agreements, and company policies. You should be confident leading payroll teams and managing third-party vendors, serving as the go-to person for all payroll matters in your assigned country or countries. Attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management are crucial, as you’ll be responsible for maintaining strong internal controls, preparing for audits, and ensuring data integrity. Your ability to build trust and credibility with HR, Finance, unions, and external partners is key, as is your skill in navigating complex organisational environments and delivering solutions in fast-paced settings. You’ll need to be comfortable working with payroll systems and tools like Workday, Excel, and other reporting or case management systems, and must be fluent in English and the local language of the country you support, as clear and empathetic communication with diverse stakeholders is essential. For Italy, in particular, you’ll also need deep knowledge of Italian payroll legislation, collective agreements, and the specific statutory reporting requirements and systems used locally, as well as the ability to manage relationships with agencies like INPS and to provide accurate data and support for union negotiations and operational needs.
