Position LocationNaples, ItalyTelework / Work-from-Home AuthorizedWho You’ll Report ToThis position will report directly to the task lead on-site for this contract, along with the Sawdey Manager / Director.The Work You’ll be DoingThe Outside Plant Technician will provide ISP & OSP O&M, including installing, inspecting, splicing, testing, repairing, replacing, upgrading, and providing redline documentation for copper and fiber optic backbone and distribution systems from the vertical frame to the end-user premise equipment in accordance with (IAW) standards, codes, and regulations specified in the PWS.
Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
- Complete work orders within response times: incidents within 4 hours, requests within 5 days, critical incidents within 4 hours of on-site report.
- Identify, document, and request maintenance actions for all outside plant cable deficiencies discovered.
- Install, modify, replace, maintain, relocate, and remove telecommunications equipment via work orders, supporting ONENET or NGEN-R requirements.
- Conduct site surveys for all work orders and submit reports to the COR within 15 calendar days.
- Install, modify, replace, maintain, relocate, and remove terminal boards, cross connect boxes, fiber optic components, and ensure proper grounding, tagging, labeling, and stenciling.
- Test all fiber optic cables before installation and after connections.
- Monitor and coordinate cleaning and dewatering of cable plant manholes and hand-holes monthly, submitting inspection reports within 30 days.
- Label items according to standard telecommunications schemes, including underground cable routes, manholes, hand holes, pedestals, and cables.
- Provide installation, cleanup, and repair of telecommunications racks, cabinets, and closets.
- Conduct annual surveys each July, submitting reports within 15 days, and correct deficiencies within 60 days.
- Restore all maintenance and repair items to original standards of performance, operability, reliability, and accuracy.
- Do not cannibalize or substitute parts with lesser-grade materials.
- Support ISP O&M, including inside plant O&M for telephone systems and ancillary equipment.
- Respond to work orders via the NCTS Naples Help Desk, adhering to response times.
- Coordinate with Level III support and local telecommunications companies for maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Immediately report outages to the BCO Helpdesk; escalate if unresolved within 30 minutes.
- Operate the telephone maintenance console for installations, programming, and feature management.
- Troubleshoot and restore telephone and system outages, coordinating with providers as needed.
- Maintain records of terminations, switch patch panels, and provide monthly PMS reports.
