ING Bank N.V., Milan branch is seeking a Database Administrator to manage server infrastructures and ensure optimal database performance. You will be responsible for overseeing the full database lifecycle, implementing high-availability solutions, and collaborating with development teams to troubleshoot issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage server infrastructure, as well as relational and NoSQL database systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
• Oversee the full database lifecycle, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Continuously monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexing strategies, and partitioning to ensure efficiency.
• Implement high-availability solutions such as AlwaysOn, RAC, replication, and clustering to ensure business continuity.
• Establish comprehensive security procedures, including access control policies and encryption methods; manage backup strategies and disaster recovery protocols.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and system malfunctions, proactively collaborating with application development teams and system administrators.
• Produce detailed technical documentation for application and system configurations, ensuring accuracy across all aspects of database management.
• Manage and maintain database environments on private cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, administration, and optimization of pluggable databases (PDBs) within multitenant architectures.
• Monitor database environments on private cloud infrastructure, using advanced monitoring and alerting tools to proactively identify performance bottlenecks, ensure system health, and maintain SLA compliance.

Requirements

• University degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience in the same role, preferably within the financial industry in a complex and international environment.
• Experience with Cassandra or other NoSQL databases is highly desirable.
• Strong proficiency in Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, with proven experience in installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, backup management, security implementation, and high-availability configurations.
• Experience with Linux (major commercial distributions), Unix and Windows Server administration.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, SQL (T‑SQL), and PL/pgSQL for automation of system and database operations.
• Hands‑on experience with high-availability environments (e.g., AlwaysOn clusters, replication setups, Oracle Data Guard).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, combined with a high level of attention to detail, ensuring reliable operation of critical systems.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken) B1 or higher level.
