Job Description: Operator - Production

2nd Shift: Monday to Friday, 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM

Qualified candidates with at least three years of applicable experience may start at $22 per hour, with an additional $2 per hour shift premium for 2nd shift.

LG Chem contributes to industrial development with world-class petrochemical products. Our core business involves a vertically integrated system from raw materials like ethylene and propylene to downstream products such as PE, ABS, Acrylic Acid, and Synthetic Rubber.

LG Chem Ohio Petrochemical, Inc. is completing its ABS Compounding Facility in Ravenna, Ohio, which began operations in 2024. We are seeking new team members to help start up this facility.

This position is responsible for producing products on time, in compliance with all production, quality, cost, and safety regulations. The role reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Essential Functions (including but not limited to):
  1. Extrusion:
  • Operate production equipment safely and efficiently to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform startup and shutdown procedures.
  • Set up and operate machinery following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Monitor control panels and make adjustments as needed.
  • During changeovers, manually remove, clean, and install extruder die heads.
  • Work efficiently during setup and changeovers to minimize downtime.
  • Operate process equipment such as extruders, pumps, silos, and packaging lines.
  • Mixing:
    • Set up and operate mixers to blend materials like chemicals, liquids, and pigments.
    • Verify materials and weights before batching.
    • Prepare raw materials for mixing.
    • Load raw materials and process according to instructions.
    • Inspect raw materials for quality standards.
    • Read work orders and measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
    • Manage labels and barcodes.
  • Packaging:
    • Package and store finished products.
    • Conduct monthly inventory of packaging supplies.
    • Ensure quality samples are collected and coordinate with laboratory.
    • Label boxes correctly with Product ID, weights, and other requirements.
  • General:
    • Follow all safety policies.
    • Generate Corrective and Preventative Action Requests.
    • Adhere to safety and quality procedures/regulations.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
    • Uphold the Jeong-Do Management (Code of Ethics).
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
    Skills / Competencies:
    • Operate machinery such as extruders, mixers, and packing machines.
    • Use workplace technology like control systems, scales, and inventory software.
    • Understand SI units and relevant health and safety regulations.
    • Possess good reading, writing, and math skills.
    • Support flexible scheduling, including overtime.
    • Maintain a positive attitude, reliability, and good communication skills.
    • Possess a forklift license.
    • Operate hand tools and mechanical equipment.
    Education:

    High School Diploma or Equivalent

    Experience / Qualifications:

    At least three years of experience in the compounding process or equivalent work experience. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
