At our site in Sordio (Lodi) we are currently seeking for a dynamic and talented Operations Manager Italy.

Please note, we are a growing company in Italy and thefore the role requires the flexibility to ensure on-site presence, as well as to travel to other locations across Italy.

Main objective

The Operations Manager is responsible for organizing the transport operations for Eurotranspharma (ETP), in Italy. They are the point of contact for the day-to-day general management, including relations with employees and the management of subcontractors.

The role oversees an overall team of approximately 20 people.

Key responsibilities

--> To manage activities associated with the transport and distribution of pharmaceutical products from ETP Transit Points & Hubs to the customers:

• Point of contact for drivers, responsible for ensuring cleanliness and punctuality.
• Responsible for the vehicle maintenance performed by their staff.
• Responsible for quality improvement and quality assurance.
• To ensure customer service is delivered at the agreed level, strictly following both quality procedures and safety regulations. Services are provided in accordance with SLAs and KPIs set internally and externally.
• To support the achievement of annual business objectives.

--> Responsible for managing the operations process, planning, control and performance improvements, to ensure an efficient deployment of personnel and equipment:

• Responsible for budgeting, financial data analysis and cost control
• To maintain and promote good cooperation between employees from all departments.
• To follow-up on actions related to GDP, ISO 9001; to make proposals for environment and safety improvement.
• To support the deployment of the company TMS Atlas, in the future.

--> To advise on medium- and long-term policies regarding people and resources:

• To implement general human resources policies in consultation with the HR department, concerning job interviews, performance reviews and absenteeism.
• To assess their entrusted staff during annual evaluation interviews.
• To monitor working conditions.

--> To maintain optimum contacts with departmental staff and subcontractors/external service providers (e.g. Technical Requirements editing, KPI’s, audits).

Experience

• Senior level Operations manager with proven, sound experience in express transport, parcels transport, or groupage transport.
• Previous exposure to pharmaceutical temperature-controlled transport networks (preferred).
• Appropriate training, competence and experience in GDP.
• A track record of successfully managing and leading operations teams.
• Familiarity with Transport Legislation and transport activity in Italy, GDP best practice processes, Quality systems, and tools.
• Logistics system knowledge, good understanding of ERP and WMS/TMS systems, as well as other business supporting IT software and tools.
• Languages (written and spoken): Italian native; English fluent; French is a plus.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in a relevant field (Engineering/ Logistics & Transportation/ Economics & business management) or equivalent experience.
