Position: Operating System & AI Expert

Work location: PISA, Italy


Short Summary

Pisa Research Center plays a leading role within Huawei Group in researching new technologies and applications in the field of automotive software and embedded systems. In this role, you will be a versatile software developer focusing on Linux or Android development, next-generation cockpit and autonomous driving systems, low-level performance optimization, and embedded AI solutions. You will join a dynamic and highly collaborative team of experts and PhDs passionate about research projects and innovative solutions in automotive and embedded systems domains.


Main Responsibilities

  1. Design and optimize Linux kernel and Android/OpenHarmony components for automotive.
  2. Design and implement software solutions for next-generation intelligent cockpits and autonomous driving systems.
  3. Perform low-level performance tuning and optimization for CPUs, GPUs, and other hardware components in embedded automotive systems.
  4. Optimize embedded AI applications, model inference optimization, and implement efficient edge deployment solutions for large AI models in automotive contexts.
Requirements

  1. Master's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  2. Proficiency in C and C++ or Python programming languages.
  3. Experience in automotive software development or architecture design.
  4. Expertise in low-level performance optimization for embedded systems.
  5. Knowledge of real-time operating systems and concurrent programming.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize complex systems.
  7. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multi-cultural environments.
  8. Fluent in English.
Following Will Be a Plus

  1. Strong knowledge of Linux kernel and Android or OpenHarmony internals.
  2. Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies.
  3. Experience with embedded AI and machine learning model deployment.
  4. Experience in automotive safety-oriented development (ISO 26262/SOTIF).
  5. Background in distributed systems and high-performance computing.
  6. Published research papers or patents in relevant areas.
  7. Knowledge of job scheduling optimization in heterogeneous computing environments.
  8. Experience with high-performance computing or supercomputing environments.
  9. Work experience in large multinational corporations.
  10. Experience working with or for Chinese companies.
  11. Expertise in sourcing strategies for technology components.
  12. Strong domain insights in automotive or embedded systems industries.
  13. Availability to travel outside Italy.
