Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Opera General Manager - Operations to join our team. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will oversee the operational aspects of our opera company, ensuring the successful delivery of productions, events, and educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the opera company, including production planning, logistics, and facilities management.
  2. Production Management: Collaborate with the Artistic Director and production teams to plan and deliver productions, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  3. Event Planning: Coordinate and execute events, such as galas, fundraisers, and educational and cultural programs, to achieve revenue and attendance goals.
  4. Team Management: Lead and manage a team of operations staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  5. Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial sustainability.
  6. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  7. Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to advance the opera company's interests.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration, Business, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in opera or performing arts management, with a focus on operations and production management.
  3. Skills:
    1. Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills.
    2. Strong operational and analytical skills.
    3. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other productivity software.
  4. Personal Qualities:
    1. Passion for opera and the performing arts.
