Air Apps, a Lisbon-born, AI-powered PRP leader, is hiring a Backend QA Engineer to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of our backend systems. The role focuses on API, database, and service testing, collaborating with engineers to maintain high QA standards.

The position is fully onsite at our Lisbon office, with relocation support available. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years in backend tech (Node.js, TypeScript) and enjoy blending development practices with quality assurance.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of backend testing or development experience.
• Experience with Node.js and TypeScript in backend environments.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and validating database queries.
• Experience testing REST APIs with Postman or Swagger.
• Understanding of backend testing practices (API, database, integration).
• Knowledge of test management tools like TestRail.
• Ability to review PRs and backend changes for quality.
• Strong attention to detail and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute tests for backend systems, including APIs, databases, and service integrations.
• Validate API functionality and performance using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar platforms.
• Test and verify database operations, queries, and data integrity in PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to review pull requests, ensuring code quality and test coverage.
• Support the development and maintenance of automated tests for backend services.
• Participate in reviewing backend infrastructure and identifying potential reliability or performance issues.
• Document and track defects, test cases, and test results using TestRail or similar systems.
• Work closely with developers and product teams to improve testing strategies and overall product quality.
