European Space Agency (ESA) Φ-lab is seeking a highly motivated researcher trainee to advance onboard AI for SAR missions. The role focuses on developing autonomous, real-time information extraction and multi-sensor coordination for next‑generation EO systems, in collaboration with ESA teams at ESRIN, Frascati.

The ideal candidate recently completed or is nearing completion of a PhD in data science, AI, computer science or related fields, with strong programming and ML framework experience

Qualifications

• Recent PhD in a field relevant to AI, ML or remote sensing.
• Ability to conduct autonomous research and publish results.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML methods and SAR processing concepts.

Responsabilités

• Undertake advanced research activities on onboard AI for SAR.
• Develop prototypes for onboard SAR data processing and cognitive SAR.
• Collaborate with ESA Φ-lab and other divisions on hardware for edge computing.
