Descrizione del lavoro

Role Description
In the framework of our LFR projects in France and UK, we are looking for nuclear system thermal-hydraulics analysts to perform studies in support of reactor design and safety assessment.
You will be part of the Engineering Department, particularly of the Plant Thermal Hydraulics Unit. You will closely collaborate with the other Engineering units as well as with the other scientific departments.
As a thermal-hydraulics analyst, you will be responsible for executing technical studies, drafting project deliverables, and reporting on schedules.

Main activities
  1. Modelling and analysing thermal hydraulic systems, with particular emphasis on steady-state and transient modelling of the nuclear reactor primary and secondary cooling systems, both in normal and off-normal conditions, mainly using 1D/lumped-parameter computer codes and possibly other thermal-hydraulic analysis tools such as CFD codes, both for design purposes and for safety assessment.
  2. Performing code validation and benchmarking activities.
  3. Supporting the design activities of the various components, specifically the heat exchangers directly interacting with the lead pool, via thermal-hydraulic simulations.
  4. Collaborating cross-functionally to support the definition of design requirements and providing technical feedback to design teams.
  5. Drafting and reviewing project deliverables, such as calculation notes, technical reports, etc.
  6. Working in close collaboration with the other engineering units (such as R&D Thermal-Hydraulics, Mechanical Design, Power Generation, Safety and Licensing, etc.) as well as with the Codes & Methods team.
Desired qualifications
  1. MSc degree, or an equivalent level of experience in relevant domains (nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.)
  2. Fluent in Italian and English; French is a plus.
  3. Strong interest in nuclear engineering, particularly in the development of the fourth generation of reactor technologies.
  4. Experience in the fields of thermal-hydraulics of single-phase and two-phase flows and heat transfer for nuclear applications and fluid systems engineering.
  5. Sound knowledge of nuclear reactor safety principles.
  6. Proven experience in TH design and/or safety analysis of nuclear reactors; this implies strong skills in the use of system TH computer codes such as RELAP5, CATHARE, ATHLET, etc.
  7. Background in the technology of liquid metals.
  8. Knowledge of other simulation tools such as neutron kinetics codes, CFD codes, severe accident codes, etc.
  9. Experience with programming languages (Python, C++, etc.) for data analysis, post-processing, or tool developments.
