Terra Innovatum's mission is to make nuclear power accessible. We deliver simple and safe micro-reactor solutions that are scalable, affordable, and deployable anywhere, 1 MWe at a time.
You will be joining a fast-growing scaleup developing SOLO – a micro modular reactor – capable of providing clean energy and radioisotopes where needed. You will support the reactor licensing process in the US initially.
You will assist the founding team in scaling up the company to a leading global energy solutions provider.

What you will be working on
As a Nuclear Reactor Engineer at Terra Innovatum, you will be :
- Responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and safety of nuclear reactors.
- Analyzing reactor performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Collaborating with regulatory agencies, technicians, and engineers to maintain safe reactor operations.

Your responsibilities include :
- Designing, analyzing, and optimizing nuclear reactor systems and components.
- Monitoring reactor performance and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
- Conducting neutronic analyses to support reactor design and operation (e.g., criticality, burnup, cross sections, flux, dose).
- Working with licensing and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with NRC and other regulations.
- Participating in fuel management, including core design and fuel cycle analysis.
- Assisting in developing new reactor technologies and improving existing designs.
- Developing shielding calculations and evaluating radiation barrier effectiveness.
- Investigating radiation incidents, performing dose reconstructions, and recommending corrective actions.
- Conducting risk assessments and failure mode analyses of reactor components.
- Providing technical support and training to operators.
- Preparing reports, documentation, and technical proposals related to reactor operations and design.
Ideal candidate profile :
- Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of reactor physics.
- Experience with nuclear simulation software (e.g., SERPENT, MCNP, SCALE, PARCS, PHYSICS).
- Understanding of nuclear regulatory requirements and safety protocols.
- Ability to troubleshoot reactor systems using technical data.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with teams and regulators.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
- Ability to work under pressure in high-stakes environments.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Preferred qualifications include :
- PhD in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
- IPO experience.
- Fluency in Italian (spoken and written).
- Ability to build relationships and influence at all organizational levels.
