The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining the network infrastructure and assisting with cybersecurity duties. The position requires collaborative work within a team of network and system administrators to ensure IT services are functioning effectively. This position also requires the ability to assist in PC management and maintenance as needed. The Network Administrator position reports to the Technical Director. This position is full-time on-site at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Hours of operation are Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 am – 5 : 00 pm. Hours may vary.
Responsibilities :
- Work within a team of technical staff to maintain the network infrastructure.
- Work within a team of technical staff to maintain and support cybersecurity services.
- Configure and upgrade firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points
- Maintain documentation on all network equipment, including configuration files and network maps.
- Collaborate with the facilities department to coordinate the installation of network cabling, ensuring that cable installations adhere to industry standards and best practices, including certifications and proper patch panel labeling.
- Assist in maintaining WAN and Internet connections and coordinate with local service companies for all satellite campuses, including remote VPN tunnel configurations.
- Work with and configure internal and external monitoring systems to ensure alerts are being generated for service outages.
- Assist in capacity planning by developing procedures to measure the capacity for network devices and hosted applications relative to current and future activities and, based on these measures, coordinate the acquisition of additional network resources, as necessary.
- Work closely with the Systems Admin Team to ensure network security and manage network-wide security, including all connecting devices. This includes managing security policies, procedures, and reviews.
- Maintain a list of all statically assigned IP addresses and work with the public-facing IP address space.
- Provide the CIO and Technical Director with budgetary requirements for hardware and software needed to support network administration across all sites.
- Stay current with technological developments related to security, networking, and device management practices by reading publications, subscribing to relevant online lists, attending conferences and workshops, and meeting with colleagues.
- Maintain detailed, up-to-date technical and operations documentation for the entire network on the University intranet.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd tier support for network, computer, and software systems.
- Assist with computer maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Assist with help desk duties as needed.

Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in information technologies or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
- At least 2 years of experience in network administration, cybersecurity, or applicable education
- Understanding of infrastructure security, including firewalls, antivirus, and other schemes to ensure security and a safe computing environment, college-wide.
- Understanding of wireless technology
- Demonstrated excellence in teamwork as well as excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
- Attention to detail and thorough documentation
- Ability to work with a range of technical staff to develop joint solutions
- Strong understanding of technical troubleshooting methodology
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Strong customer service skills and demonstrated responsiveness to customer needs
- Systems administration and PC support experience is a plus
- Experience in running EDR and IDS systems and responding to events
- Self-motivated, task focused individual with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as needed to move equipment across the campus environment.
- Must be able to sit and stand for long periods.
- Must be able to crawl under desks for any technological need.

Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience and understanding of Aruba, HP, Cisco hardware, and configurations
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP servers, and services
