Job Description:

In the frame of Thales Alenia Space Rome AIT Center, we are looking for an Engineer to take a role in designing and verifying Space Systems Tests and Platform Test Engineer. The requested profile is for engineers in Electronic, Telecommunication or equivalent.

Key duties:

  1. Execution of tests on RF and Microwaves subsystems and systems
  2. Analysis, modeling and simulation of Payload test benches functions and performances
  3. Definition of validation, methods and accuracy of tests
  4. Development of AIT Test Software and Procedures
  5. Use the function and operations of all the systems composing the Anechoic Chamber
  6. Reading technical drawings and schemes
  7. Safety concepts and procedure
  8. Supervision of test campaigns and analysis of results
  9. Test report and trend analysis
  10. Availability to work in double or triple shifts
  11. Availability to work during bank holiday seasons
  12. Availability to work on weekends
  13. Availability to work abroad for long periods

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  1. Master degree in Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  2. Knowledge of Anechoic Chamber System use and scope
  3. Understanding the function and operations of all the systems composing the Anechoic Chamber
  4. Knowledge/Experience on main protocol/standards as CCSDS, ITU, ECSS, PUS and so on
  5. Knowledge of ESA technical standard (at least of the following list): ECSS-E-ST-20-07C Rev.2 (3 January 2022) (EMC), ECSS-E-ST-50-05C (RF and modulation), ECSS-E-ST-50-02C (Ranging and Doppler)
  6. Technical experience about writing/understanding the Payload Test Requirements of a Satellite
  7. Technical experience about technical procurement on Payload units
  8. Technical experience about test execution at Payload level or alternatively on Spacecraft level
  9. Reading technical drawings and schemes
  10. Familiarity with Safety concepts and procedures
  11. Familiarity with both RF instrumentation and RF measurements
  12. Knowledge of Antennas Theory (basic, at least) and related Antenna RF measurements
  13. Knowledge of Far-Field and Near Field terminologies and measurement techniques
  14. Technical experience on Payload EGSE elements and development on Payload simulator
  15. Knowledge of MATLAB, C++, Python, Java, Linux is a plus
  16. Knowledge of the operating principles on Telecommunication Sub-systems
  17. Knowledge and experience in the use of measurement instrumentation (Oscilloscope, Power Meter, Spectrum Analyzer, etc.)
  18. Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time and to work autonomously
  19. Team Working attitude
  20. Good knowledge of English in writing and speaking
