NDE Manager — Lead NDT Operations & Quality

Job summary

Alfa Laval in Suisio, Italy, seeks an experienced NDE Manager to oversee non-destructive testing operations, ensuring compliance with contract quality control plans and leading internal and external NDT teams.

You will coordinate VT, PT, MT, UT, and other methods, review QC plans, interpret radiography, witness inspections, and support audits and certifications, while maintaining instrument calibration and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in NDE management within the Oil & Gas or pressure equipment sector.
• ISO 9712 and ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level 2 certification in VT, MT, PT, RT, and UT is mandatory; Level 3 certifications are a plus.
• Strong command of mechanical drawings and pressure equipment regulations (ASME B&PV, UNI EN ISO).
• Basic knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 frameworks. Medical fitness for heights and confined spaces required.
• Proven leadership abilities, excellent team management, and problem-solving mindset.
• Proficiency in technical English and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal and external NDT personnel, coordinating shifts and resource allocation.
• Oversee NDT execution (VT, PT, MT, UT, PHA, TOFD, LT) on fabrication and incoming materials.
• Review Quality Control Plans with the QC Inspector and report inspection outcomes.
• Interpret radiography (including digital RT) and perform witness inspections for clients or inspectors.
• Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support production troubleshooting.
• Ensure availability and calibration of NDE instruments and calibration blocks.
