Overview

Navigation System IVV Engineer role at Thales Alenia Space. The work will be based in Rome, with occasional travel for on-site testing or customer meetings. You will collaborate with the TASI System Navigation team and may explore opportunities for temporary relocations outside Italy.

Task description: The following activities will be nominally part of your daily work.

Responsibilities
  • Support the System Navigation Team in defining System Integration and Verification activities for Navigation Programs.
  • Contribute to defining the Project's test strategy and Qualification campaign.
  • Define the System assembly, Integration, and Verification Plan.
  • Define the Operational Validation Plan.
  • Prepare Review Verification Matrixes adhering to applicable standards (e.g., ECSS for ESA and EUSPA).
  • Create System Test Cases for Ground and Space Segments, including compatibility tests campaign definition.
  • Support the definition of System Test Tools, providing requirement specifications for tools needed in the AIV Plan and Test Cases.
  • Prepare and define detailed Test Procedures.
  • Conduct test execution, including planning, schedule definition, collaboration with other partners, and leading Test Readiness Reviews, Post Test Reviews, final Test Review Boards.
  • Prepare inputs and collect output data from test execution.
  • Conduct Test Data analysis and Prepare Test Reports
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Verification Control Document.
  • Participate in major meetings/teleconferences with the customer and maintain regular contact.
  • Periodically support the System Engineering Manager in preparing and conducting Progress Meetings in front of the customer.
Qualifications & Requirements

Language: fluent English, spoken and written.

Personal requirements: The ideal candidate has a strong inclination towards teamwork and is at ease mediating even between different requests. Open minded to different cultures in working, with a collaborative approach to finding shared solutions.

Experience & Skills: Experience in SW development (C, C++, Linux/Unix, Bash, Python) and knowledge of networking aspects (LAN, WAN structures, IP/Uni-Multi UDP/TCP/FTP/SFTP, Security architectures, FWs, Switches, Routing rules, VPNs). Background in telecommunications, with focus on satellite navigation systems, is a plus. Eligibility to personal clearance is required.

Other: This role expects alignment with Thales Alenia Space’s mobility policy and collaboration with international teams.
