Job Description: Navigation System Support Engineer

We are seeking a Navigation System Support Engineer to join Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), with over 40 years of experience in high-tech space solutions. Our work encompasses telecommunications, navigation, Earth Observation, environmental management, exploration, science, and orbital infrastructures.

Role Overview: You will support the design of processes for the assembly, integration, and verification of satellite navigation systems. Your responsibilities include aiding in defining and executing test strategies and qualification campaigns, working based in Rome with occasional travel for on-site testing or customer meetings.

Key Collaborations: You will work closely with the TASI System Navigation team and may explore opportunities for temporary relocations outside Italy.

Responsibilities:

1. Support the System Navigation Team in defining System Integration and Verification activities for Navigation Programs.
2. Contribute to defining the project's test strategy and qualification campaign.
3. Define the System Assembly, Integration, and Verification Plan.
4. Define the Operational Validation Plan.
5. Prepare Review Verification Matrices in compliance with standards such as ECSS for ESA and EUSPA.
6. Create System Test Cases for Ground and Space Segments, including compatibility tests campaign definition.
7. Support the definition of System Test Tools and provide requirement specifications.
8. Prepare detailed Test Procedures.
9. Conduct test execution, including planning, scheduling, collaboration, and leading Test Readiness and Review Boards.
10. Prepare inputs and collect outputs during test execution.
11. Analyze Test Data and prepare Test Reports.
12. Contribute to the Verification Control Document.
13. Participate in meetings and teleconferences with customers, maintaining regular contact.
14. Support the System Engineering Manager in preparing and conducting Progress Meetings with customers.

Qualifications:

Language: Fluent English, spoken and written.

Personal Attributes: Strong teamwork orientation, mediating skills, open-mindedness to different cultures, collaborative approach, and problem-solving skills.

Technical Skills: Experience in software development (C, C++, Linux/Unix, Bash, Python), knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, IP, UDP/TCP, FTP/SFTP, security architectures, firewalls, switches, routing, VPNs) is highly desirable. A background in telecommunications, especially satellite navigation systems, is a plus.
