Role Summary

The Field Service Technician coordinates and attends troubleshooting and repairs of all valve-actuator-positioner products for customers in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, power, nuclear, coal, mining, and water/wastewater. The job involves coordination with the Commercial Team, major manufacturing plants, Engineering/Quality departments, QRCs, and CSCs in the respective region.

Responsibilities include training field service technicians at CSCs, creating a resource pool for customer demand outside their region, and managing TAR tracking through FlowForce, planning, site walks, inventory assessments, identifying issues, automation services, retrofit/changeout/upgrade/instrumentation, and monitoring opportunities. The role requires on-site participation in TAR activities as needed.

The position serves both onshore and offshore customers and demands an experienced engineer or technician capable of providing confident expertise in operational problems. The technician plans repairs, oversees installation, conducts maintenance, and monitors product performance at customer locations. They may be the sole representative on-site but can call upon the Field Service and Service Engineering Teams to ensure optimal product operation. This role is primarily on the road and organizationally based within the global QRC network.

Responsibilities
  • Support a positive HSE culture, reduce injuries, and maintain a safe work environment, adhering to safety regulations and organizing necessary equipment.
  • Make direct service calls responding to customer requests.
  • Assess mechanical, instrumental, and electrical problems, taking corrective actions.
  • Oversee repair cycles: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.
  • Ensure successful and timely equipment installation.
  • Check equipment before start-up and assess performance.
  • Work alongside customer personnel and lead work crews as needed.
  • Monitor maintenance and equipment performance.
  • Train customers on operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Identify sales opportunities for follow-up, quoting, and customer presentations.
  • Collaborate with Sales & ComOps teams for coordinated customer service.
  • Coordinate with repair centers and commercial organizations.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily reports, quotes, jobs, and charges using designated systems.
  • Perform inspections and testing at customer sites, workshops, or third-party repair facilities.
  • Conduct start-up troubleshooting onsite or via online support.
  • Inspect and report damaged equipment.
  • Perform risk analyses and assessments on-site.
  • Maintain regular contact with local bases, manufacturing plants, and QRCs for technical information and support.
  • During off-peak seasons, support local QRCs.
  • Support root cause analysis within FLS and for customers.
  • Complete and submit final reports before leaving the job site.
  • Promote ethics, safety, and quality through communication and actions.
Requirements
  • Technical High School (HTL) and/or Bachelor’s in Engineering or similar qualification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of valve-actuator-positioner products.
  • Proficiency in factory testing requirements for valves, actuators, and positioners, including testing software and troubleshooting digital products.
  • Ability to work independently with extensive travel, both domestic and international.
  • Excellent documentation skills for service reports and documentation using AMP.
  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interface well with customers, presenting a positive company image.
  • Proficiency with systems such as FlowForce, AMP, Oracle, SAP, and others listed.
  • Willingness to obtain necessary vaccinations and travel permits.
  • Ability to organize travel arrangements independently.
  • Fluent in Italian and English.
