Data Center Operations Manager Italy (Milan)

Data Center Operations Management involves planning, hardware installation and configuration, optimization, operations, and ongoing maintenance of the data center. Responsibilities include overseeing system performance, equipment monitoring, and managing vendor relationships. The role requires capacity planning and process improvement to ensure documentation, sustainability, and scalability. Ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, developing personnel, and managing client-focused projects are also key aspects.

  • Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center engineers.
  • Manage the performance of a diverse team of data center professionals in Milan.
  • Develop career paths for employees and update internal tools.
  • Recruit and train data technicians.
  • Manage day-to-day data center operations, including shift arrangements and hardware logistics.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in data center operations, especially in DCIM integrations.
  • Ensure operational KPIs are met and report key metrics.
  • Drive process improvements, technology innovation, and automation.
  • Manage large-scale events and incident communications to executives.
  • Build workflows for data center operations.
  • Maintain understanding of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
  • Recommend and oversee policies and procedures to meet SLAs and industry standards.
  • Maintain on-call schedules, coordinating absences and vacations.
  • Focus on service quality and continuous improvement of customer experience.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in data center operations management with increasing responsibilities.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience in planning, hardware setup, optimization, and maintenance of data centers.
  • Knowledge of system performance monitoring and vendor management.
  • Experience in capacity planning and assessments.
  • Understanding of data center infrastructure: power, HVAC, cabling, security.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Strong analytical and multi-tasking skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Technical documentation skills; knowledge of ITIL is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for sustainability and supporting global impact responsibilities.
