Job Overview

Healthcare professionals are needed to support medical staff in Military Treatment Facilities and Health Clinics within US Army Medical Command, Regional Health Command Europe, and other Department of Defense agencies including US Navy and US Air Forces in Europe.

Qualifications

• Degree: Certificate from an accredited medical laboratory technician training program (NAACLS, ABHES, or equivalent acceptable to AMT)
• Certification: Registered or certified as per American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT standards
• Experience: Knowledge of standard and molecular laboratory techniques, or at least 2 years of work experience as a clinical laboratory technician within the last 5 years

Responsibilities Include:

• Perform clinical laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank
• Prepare specimens, reagents, and reference materials; calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments; troubleshoot equipment issues
• Ensure specimen quality, conduct quality control procedures, and maintain records
• Handle specimen transport and disposal
• Conduct patient testing, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, DNA sequencing, and microbiological methods
• Report test results accurately into the LIS (CHCS) and maintain documentation for at least two years
• Participate in quality management, safety protocols, and training
• Assist with disease surveillance and research activities as needed

Support Status

This position is eligible for support under NATO Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) articles 72 or 73.
