Job summary

Winthrop Technologies Ltd. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Lead to head all mechanical works on site for a major project in Bertonico, Italy. You will drive delivery safely, on programme, within budget and to high quality standards, coordinating with planners, subcontractors and design teams.

You will lead the mechanical team, oversee QA/QC, ensure documentation, and foster a strong safety culture while supporting commercial tracking and progress reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or similar.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical construction with leadership background.
• Experience managing HVAC, piping and related services on large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of coordination, sequencing and programme delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead all Mechanical activities on site across the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate day-to-day mechanical site operations with the broader project team.
• Ensure QA/QC processes align with project specs and standards.
• Coordinate schedules with Planners, Project Managers, subcontractors, consultants and design teams.
• Manage subcontractor performance including progress tracking and meetings.
• Maintain subcontractor documentation, including safety documentation.
• Chair Site Meetings, Engineering Reviews, Planning Meetings and Handover Meetings.
• Liaise with design team to align construction information with programme requirements.
• Review drawings and submittals for effective coordination of mechanical systems.
• Promote health & safety standards and strong safety culture.
• Support commercial management through tracking variations and cost control.
• Prepare and issue progress reports to senior management.
• Oversee mechanical snagging and timely close-out.

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Lead to join our project team in Bertonico, Italy. This role will be responsible for leading all Mechanical works on site, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all Mechanical activities across the project lifecycle
• Oversee and coordinate day-to-day mechanical site operations with the wider project team
• Ensure QA/QC processes are implemented and maintained in line with project specifications and standards
• Coordinate project schedules with Planners, Project Managers, subcontractors, consultants, and design teams
• Manage mechanical subcontractor performance, including progress tracking, manpower planning, and coordination meetings
• Ensure all subcontractor documentation, including safety documentation, is maintained and up to date
• Chair and attend Site Meetings, Engineering Reviews, Planning Meetings, and Handover Meetings
• Liaise with the design team to ensure construction information and technical submissions are aligned with programme requirements
• Review drawings, technical submittals, and ensure effective coordination of mechanical systems
• Drive health & safety standards and promote a strong safety culture across mechanical activities
• Support commercial management through tracking variations, cost control, and attendance at weekly commercial meetings
• Prepare and issue progress reports to senior management and key stakeholders
• Oversee mechanical snagging activities and ensure timely close-out
• Proactively identify, manage, and resolve technical, design, and coordination issues

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, or similar discipline
• Minimum 7+ years experience within the mechanical construction sector, with a strong leadership background
• Proven experience managing mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, and associated services) on large-scale construction projects
• Strong knowledge of mechanical coordination, sequencing, and programme delivery
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems, installation methodologies, and commissioning processes
• Proven ability to lead subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects successfully
• Data centre, industrial, or mission-critical project experience is advantageous
