Be at the forefront of designing and developing the intelligent systems and electromechanical structures that power the greatest kinetic installations.
In this role, you will
- Contribute to early-stage concept development, evaluating mechanical solutions for performance, risk, and manufacturability from the outset.
- Design mechanical and structural systems including linkages, transmission chains, and support frames, from first principles to robust, build-ready assemblies.
- Lead prototyping efforts, from CAD to hands-on 3D printing, machining, and functional testing, validating form, fit, and function.
- Perform dimensional studies, kinematic layouts, and early-stage stress calculations to guide design decisions.
- Select appropriate manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, sheet metal forming, welding, injection molding, 3D printing), balancing performance, cost, and timelines.
- Coordinate directly with suppliers and fabricators to source components both off-the-shelf and custom, aligning on technical requirements.
- Produce high-quality shop drawings and documentation in line with LEVA’s standards to ensure clear, consistent fabrication and assembly.
- Specify jigs, fixtures, and custom tooling to enable precise and repeatable manufacturing and installation.
- Support system integration and on-site installation, ensuring mechanical intent is preserved and the assembly is delivered to spec.
- In this position, you might be required to travel during on-site installations worldwide.
Experience & Qualifications
- Education - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- English - C1 (must have).
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, Inventor, Rhino).
- Solid experience with prototyping tools and methods (e.g., 3D printing, CNC, laser cutting, hands-on testing).
- Understanding of mechanical fundamentals: kinematics, tolerancing, material behavior, and structural principles.
- Ability to carry a concept through the full product lifecycle - from idea to design to physical prototype and support on-site.
- Familiarity with mechanical production techniques and DFM principles.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work across disciplines.
- Adaptability to shifting requirements and iterative development.
- Excellent technical communication, including drawings, documentation, and supplier interfacing.
