Position: Mechanical Architect Engineer (Senior)

The candidate will operate within a system-level core team and interface with Agencies and Customers, requiring strong communication skills, a proactive problem-solving attitude, and a team-oriented approach.

Must possess a solid background in mechanical/structural engineering to quickly define and manage complex mechanical system designs.

Key duties
  1. Define specific mechanical/structural requirements based on high-level customer needs.
  2. Support concept/trade studies in coordination with System Engineering to inform architectural decisions.
  3. Define mechanical architecture.
  4. Design and analyze metallic and composite structures, considering manufacturability and integration constraints.
  5. Develop and run simple FEM and structural/dynamic analyses for sizing and design decisions.
  6. Prepare procurement specifications for structure systems and subsystems.
  7. Manage structures procurement and oversee subcontractors until delivery.
  8. Support development and qualification of manufacturing processes for mechanical hardware.
  9. Assist in hardware integration and final testing.
  10. Contribute to test plans and specifications for mechanical testing (static and dynamic).
  11. Coordinate with Quality Assurance on NCRs affecting mechanical parts during manufacturing, integration, and testing.
  12. Participate and present in internal and external reviews and meetings.
Skills, experience, and qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Mandatory prior experience in space-related mechanical/structural engineering.
  • Experience managing subcontractors technically and programmatically.
  • Leadership qualities to manage and direct a technical team.
  • Knowledge of structural requirements and solutions for Space Station modules, Satellites, and Re-entry Vehicles.
  • Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and techniques relevant to structural/mechanical components.
  • Experience with analysis tools like NASTRAN, FEMAP is preferred.
  • Proficiency in hand calculations and engineering judgment.
  • Knowledge of fracture mechanics and fatigue is advantageous.
  • Strong team spirit and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Availability to work in shifts if required.
  • Analytical, synthesis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent English language skills (spoken and written).
  • Respect for company hierarchy, rules, and discipline.
  • Ability to work within budgets and schedules.
  • Ph.D. and/or Master's in Space Engineering are highly valued.
